TRACK OF THE MONTH: Atiptoe / Patchwork Natives split tape

A first for Track of the Month this month. Not just featuring more than one track, but also more than one band! This split tape/download from Failure By Design Records caught our eyes in so many ways, we didn't want to just select one.

Firstly the artwork is rad! Secondly, everything FBD Records do is awesome supporting local bands in all sorts of way. Thirdly, having seen Atiptoe 3 or 4 times now, loving their live show and yet somehow never featuring them on these pages, we had to rectify that. And finally, yeah the music, all four tracks, are ace.

You can download the 4 track record from their Bandcamp site, but why not grab something physical, unique and sexy? The split tape is available in two limited edition colours from their website.

The two Atiptoe tracks nicely capture their unique blend of alternative rock and math rock time signatures. A perfect introduction, if this Guildford band have so far escaped your attention.

Brighton math-rock instrumentalists Patchwork Natives, unlike the label mates, have only just come into our consciousness. They were on the bill with Atiptoe, Yearbook and Glass Mazes at the recent single launch show at The Back Room in Guildford, but this is our first proper listen. We like lots and know this will appeal to lots of our readers. Go on, get this in your ears...
