Press Release...

We Have Not Yet Panned Out is a collaborative EP recorded over Halloween weekend in the quiet Hampshire village of Grayshott. The four songs included on the EP were written and performed by Annabel Allum and itoldyouiwouldeatyou, and produced by Thom Ashworth of Our Lost Infantry. The split is set for a 1st December release via Rose Coloured Records, and will be accompanied by both acoustic and full band launch shows in the Guildford area.

Annabel Allum is a singer-songwriter based in Guildford whose sound is reminiscent of Elliott Smith, Sigur Ros and Cate le Bon. Regular gigging and the release of her March EP Synergy have earned Annabel a great place in her local scene, appearing at a number of events over the summer including Staycation, Rose Coloured’s summer fest and Dengfest 2014. With a sound influenced by and accessible through a number of different genres and styles, Annabel is surely set to receive praise from across the board, and is certainly already headed in that direction.

itoldyouiwouldeatyou are a band spread across the South East (London, Guildford, Milton Keynes) who draw influence from bands like Say Anything, Manchester Orchestra and Mansions. Although originally a solo venture, with vocalist Joey Ashworth composing and recording demos in his home in Godalming during his college days, itoldyouiwouldeatyou has since grown to include guitarist Josh See, drummer Sean Westall and bassist Ollie Greville. Unlike Annabel, they have yet to release a proper record (excluding a limited CD of lo-fi demos and a two-track mixtape of found sound experiments), making We Have Not Yet Panned Out their first full-band project.

Annabel and itoldyouiwouldeatyou met through playing and attending the same shows in Guildford this summer, and Rose Coloured were kind enough to give them the opportunity to work together by organising and putting out this split. Prior to recording the EP, the artists decided to link the songs with a unifying theme, namely personal experiences of youth and young adulthood. To reflect this, they chose to name the record after a quote from American author Sam Lipsyte; ‘Let a fever for the truth speed it now. Let me stand on the rooftop of my reckoning and shout naught but the indisputable: I did not pan out.’

The split release will be celebrated on Wednesday 3rd December at Harris & Hoole, on North Street, Guildford, where Annabel and itoldyouiwouldeatyou will perform acoustic sets on the first floor of the cafe from 4:30 to 7pm. This launch will be limited to 45 spaces, and will be invite only. Invites will be given out with pre-orders of the gig/EP bundle through Bandcamp.
