NEWS: Local labels and venue get together for Independent Venues Week

Friday, January 23, 2015

Next week sees the annual Independent Venue Week take place across the country, including our very own Boileroom in Guildford. IVW celebrates the spirit of independence and the culture of live music and in recent difficult times for small venues has taken on increased significance.

So it gives us great pleasure to be invited to be a part of the week-long festivities when Rose Coloured Records joins two other local labels on Tuesday 27th January for the Local Label Showcase.

Representing Rose Coloured Records will the always awesome live experience that is Parachute For Gordo. We released their wonderful album 'Ten Meters Per Second Per Second' last year on 180g red vinyl, with gorgeous gate-fold sleeve art specially commissioned by Paint My Band. It looks almost as good as it sounds.

We will also have lots of bargains, give-aways and goodie bags for you on our stall from all of the bands on our roster.

We will be joined by Failure By Design Records and Lockjaw Records, each with a fantastic act playing live on the night and a stall with their releases.

It's a 16+ event and just £3 entry, so get on down and support your local scene!

About Independent Venues Week:

Monday 26th January – Sunday 1st February 2015

Independent Venue Week is a 7 day celebration of small music venues around the UK and a nod to the people that run them, week in, week out.

These venues give artists their first experience of playing live in front of an audience and for fans, somewhere to get up close to artists that one day, may well be playing stadiums and festival main stages.

Supported using public funding by Arts Council England, Independent Venue Week brings together these venues along with breaking and established artists, promoters, labels, media, bloggers and tastemakers to create a nationwide series of gigs at the end of January.

These venues are the backbone of the live music scene in this country and Independent Venue Week wants to recognise all that they have done to create some of the most memorable nights of the past so they can continue to do the same in the future.
